Hyperhidrosis is simply the medical term for excessive sweating.
It’s normal to sweat if you get hot or do exercise, but you may be sweating excessively if you’re sweating when your body doesn’t need to cool down.
Excessive sweating can happen for no obvious reason, because of another condition you may have or as a side effect of medication you’re taking.
One of the best ways to treat hyperhidrosis is an injection of a protein preparation into the problem area, normally the forehead or underarms but can be used to help with sweating of the hands and feet. In small doses the protein blocks the nerves that supply the eccrine glands, preventing them from producing sweat.
